“The Lodge at Leon Springs is a very special place. Our Mom had been living alone in Florida for almost 6 years since our Dad passed and did not want to move. We convinced her to move into an 800 square foot independent living cottage at the Lodge at Leon Springs in order to be close to family.
She immediately found herself in a loving and supportive community and really enjoyed her screened porch, the mature trees, the pond and the birds chirping.
After a fall 6 months later, we were very fortunate that a large suite was available in the assisted living building. We moved her into assisted living and the care she received was extraordinary. I cannot imagine a more caring and supportive staff than the professionals at the Lodge at Leon Springs.”

“Our Mom lived at the Lodge for 9 years before her passing in April. The staff was always welcoming and inviting. Visiting hours are not restricted which allowed us to visit anytime of the day or night. They would always call and communicate with any concerns or just to share a special moment they had with Mom during the day.
The support, care and love they gave Mom and the family during her time at the Lodge was above and beyond what we expected of an assisted living facility. There are many senior facilities to choose from but if you are looking for a place that feels like home with people who genuinely care about their residents I would recommend you consider the Lodge at Leon Springs.”

“Last year, I realized I could no longer safely care for my 90-year old dad due to his progressing dementia. I looked at many assisted living facilities and chose the Lodge hands down. It has exceeded my expectations and the prices are reasonable. It is a small, close and naturally beautiful community that encircles a spring fed pond with large trees which makes such a peaceful setting for gathering, walking and just sitting to admire the beauty. My husband and I moved Dad into one of the cottages just over a year ago and it was wonderful as far as some independence but absolute care by the staff. As his dementia was progressing, we moved him into the assisted living building into a spacious “apartment” where he has round-the-clock care by the very attentive and caring staff. Becca and the whole staff are always there for us. They directly contact me often to keep me up to date regarding any med needs, when he is having a good or bad day, or just any fun info including pics of staff doing fun things with him! We visit several times a week any time we want and are always welcome. Over the past year, we have gotten to know the entire staff so well and love them all! They are so helpful with advice about things that I simply don’t know. Senior Buddies also became very important after Dad had a fall and needed some extra care while healing.

There are lots of activities including live music which Dad absolutely loves. We are welcome to join in and I often dance with him 🙂 The Lodge does great food and snacks at so many celebrations of Easter, Christmas, Memorial Day, resident birthdays, and on and on. Also, bingo, movies, card games, exercise, etc. The food is excellent and the kitchen staff is always willing to help with particular needs.

There is a loving church within walking distance. They send a pastor over once a month who does a sermon and leads in singing and so many residents enjoy that immensely.

I know that each resident is known personally and cared for accordingly. I witness this all the time. They even put one of my dad’s pictures in the living room because it makes him know it’s his home. They do wonderful decorations for EVERY holiday which is so uplifting 🙂

I would highly recommend The Lodge at Leon Springs and its staff to care for your loved ones.”

“My dad has lived at the Lodge at Leon Springs for nearly seven years. He first lived in an independent cottage for several years. These cottages are perfect little homes. A lot of care and planning went into the design of these cottages, and the campus as a whole. The headwaters for the Leon spring is located on the campus and freely flows out of the hillside and down to a peaceful and gorgeous pond following a rain. So much early settlement and native American history is centered around this immediate area. Residents frequently see wild turkey, deer, racoons, ducks and geese as they make their way to the pond for a drink. It’s a lovely place to walk around the pond and greet your neighbors.

The cottages have an abundance of windows to view the gorgeous setting, plus a screened-in porch to sit and enjoy the outdoors. The floors are one-level, and each cottage is designed to be accessible by wheelchair. Their website has photos and videos that show these features in detail.

There is an abundance of fun activities and ways to get together with your neighbors.

Three meals a day are delivered to the residents in their cottages or assisted living rooms, or you could choose to eat in the dining room.

Though my dad lived in an independent cottage, he needed some extra help. We chose Senior Buddies, which is an on-site organization. The caregivers helped him shower, washed his clothes and dishes, made his bed, and provided companionship. Just so you know, there are residents who have other caregiving agencies come in too. That is an option, but we chose Senior Buddies because they were convenient, based on the level of care he needed, and the caregivers were wonderful. These agencies are flexible and can provide services based on your needs and some are there full-time all the time, full-time for a period of time, or just a few hours a week.

Eventually my dad needed an even higher level of care and he moved to the most wonderful room for him within the assisted living building. This is a Spanish-style converted residence. He has a birds-eye view of the pond and people coming and going. There are many great suites and studios.

The team within the assisted living part of the campus is led by Rebecca (Becca) Schroeder. She and each of her staff are incredible! They treated my dad with so much compassion. They gained his trust and became his friends. They are my friends too.

Navigating the various outside support services and agencies that may be needed can be difficult. Becca and her staff have been wonderful in helping guide me in making the best decisions I can for my dad so he receives the best care possible. I have learned whether you’re a resident, a family member, or a friend helping, you need to develop and keep a consistent line of communication going with all members of those caring for your loved one.

One of the biggest challenges for any caregiving organization lately has been COVID. The staff at the Lodge did an outstanding job in navigating this complex and uncertain time, creating a safer environment for residents and staff. In addition to COVID was, Uri, the Texas winter storm of 2021. Based on their dedication to superior care for my dad, and all the residents, from these two events alone, I’d give them 10 stars if I could.

My dad and I highly recommend this facility for anyone considering moving to a senior community.”
